Brandon Courtney was born and raised in Iowa, served four years in the United States Navy (Operation Enduring Freedom), and is a graduate of the MFA program at Hollins University, where he studied under Natasha Trethewey.
His two full length collections, The Grief Muscles (Sheep Meadow Press) and Rooms For Rent In The Burning City (SparkWheel Press) are available now. His chapbook, Improvised Devices, is available through Thrush Press.
Brandon is currently at work on a second chapbook and a third full-length collection, forthcoming from YesYes Books in 2016 and 2017. He currently lives on the east coast with a Welsh Pembroke Corgi named Spondee, his fiancé, and a well-tended record collection.
